A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between MMPRC & Fliggy, Fliggy being the top online travel platform in China and part of the Alibaba group, and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives), with the aim of bolstering and expanding the Maldives’ brand in the Chinese market.
At a ceremony conducted at Villa Nautica on August 18, 2024, MMPRC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, and Vice President of Fliggy, Mr. Tong Teng, signed this agreement in partnership with Villa Resorts. This important collaboration between MMPRC and Fliggy will support the Maldives’ position as a top travel destination in China.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Fliggy for their partnership and to all our stakeholders here for their support. I have no doubt that our combined efforts will lead to another successful year for the Maldives Tourism Industry.” highlighted Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and MD of MMPRC.
One of the most popular online travel sites in China is Fliggy. The hope is that by working together, Maldives will be able to effectively promote different tourism sectors from the Sunny Side of Life while also maintaining market position as a major source market and showcasing the destination. Visit Maldives hopes to highlight the Maldives’ appeal as a top destination for MICE tourism, meetings, and conferences by working with Villa Resorts to hold the signing ceremony at Villa Nautica.
“We deeply value the strong relationship between our two countries and appreciate the love the Chinese people have for the Maldives,” said Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal. “This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to build on that connection.”
MMPRC is dedicated to collaborating closely with our partners and stakeholders to preserve and enhance the Maldives’ appeal in important international markets. Joining forces with the tourism sector, Visit Maldives aims to diversify tourism categories, increase market reach, and significantly increase visitor arrivals. Chinese travellers continue to choose the Maldives as their vacation spot. This partnership is a noteworthy collaboration, supporting Visit Maldives in preserving the Maldives as the World’s Top Travel Destination and providing the Chinese market with up-to-date information on the Sunny Side of Life.
