On October 22nd 2024, at Crossroads Maldives, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) successfully held the first “Tourism Symposium 2024 by Visit Maldives,” ushering in a new era in marketing. Industry leaders used this conference as a crucial forum to discuss the urgent issues and promising prospects influencing the country’s tourism scene.
A wide range of influential people, legislators, business executives, and Maldivian stakeholders attended this one-day event. Participants explored important subjects like health and safety, diversification and sustainability, teamwork, and creative solutions. The Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr. Zihuny Rasheed, chaired an interesting panel discussion throughout the occasion. Prominent high-level government representatives were on the panel, including Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, the CEO and MD of MMPRC; Mr. Munim Anees, the Minister of State for Tourism; Ms. Khadeeja Abdul Samad Abdulla, the Minister of State for Health; Ms. Aminath Hussain Shareef, the Minister of State for Fisheries and Ocean Resources; and Mr. Ahmed Salim Saeed, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade. The Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal, also participated in answering audience questions at the conclusion of the private panel discussion, which provided insightful information from policy experts on tactics for a resilient and sustainable tourism sector.
Attendees of Visit Maldives’ Tourism Symposium 2024 got the chance to network with industry players, acquire insightful knowledge, and work together on creative approaches. In order to enable participants to collaborate on creating successful advertising campaigns, addressing industry issues, and formulating practical suggestions for the industry’s future, the symposium also featured interactive sessions with presentations and in-depth discussions. Participants were allowed to actively participate in providing thoughts and views on how to best integrate all aspects of tourism into the plan for a comprehensive marketing strategy that appeals to tourists from all over the world after MMPRC presented the Maldives’ tentative marketing plan for 2025.
Visit Maldives was also able to demonstrate a holistic solution for MICE tourism, guaranteeing easy transit and a memorable experience for guests, with Crossroads Maldives serving as the event venue in partnership with Jalboot Marine Services. The event perfectly captured the Maldives as a destination for large-scale MICE events that effortlessly blend business and leisure with its picturesque backdrop and inspirational spaces.
Through further efforts like this symposia, Visit Maldives is dedicated to assisting the Maldives tourist industry and collaborating closely with industry stakeholders to meet the national tourism target. The end of the very renowned Global DATA Forum 2024, which took place earlier this week at Bandos Maldives, came before the Tourism Symposium 2024 by Visit Maldives. Through international promotion and creative events, the hope is to keep promoting innovation, public-private cooperation, and sustainable growth in the Maldives tourist sector.
