In a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing event conducted on 22nd February 2024, MNU and Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives Resort came together at the resort with a specific goal in mind. This project is a significant accomplishment for the tourist and education industries, marking the beginning of an era marked by experiential learning, scholarly research, and community engagement.
The signing ceremony was attended by important representatives of both organizations, including The Maldives National University and Seaside Finolhu Maldives team members, Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef (Deputy Vice Chancellor), Ms. Zeenath Solih (Dean of FHTS), Mr. Steven Phillips (General Manager of Seaside Finolhu), Mr. Matheen Faisal (Human Resource Manager at Seaside Finolhu) and Mr. Eranga Bandara (Talent Development Manager).
The purpose of the MoU by MNU and Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives is to provide Seaside Finolhu staff members with the chance to seek more education and career advancement in the hospitality industry by means of academic programs offered by MNU (Maldives National University) to both local residents and individuals with work permits. This creative project seeks to provide easy access to top-notch instruction and training, encouraging skill development and career advancement on-site.
Through the provision of academic programs inside the resort, the ORC creates a climate that is favorable to learning, enabling islanders to seek ongoing career development. This strategy not only helps the individual islanders but also advances the general quality of the resort’s hospitality offerings, guaranteeing improved visitor experiences and contentment.
The general manager of Seaside Finolhu, Steven Phillips, expressed his excitement: “We are committed to developing talent and promoting excellence in hospitality through this partnership with Maldives National University. We are thrilled to offer opportunities for further education and growth to our staff members and islanders.”
A commitment to developing talent and pertinent skills in hospitality and tourism is demonstrated by the partnership between Seaside Finolhu and Maldives National University, which acknowledges the economic significance of tourism in the Maldives.
