An exciting growth to increase the Maldives tourism capacity has been announced by Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal, with an extra 2,700 beds scheduled to be added this year.
Minister Faisal emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting the tourism industry in an exclusive interview with PSM News, emphasising that this is especially true in areas that do not yet have enough facilities for visitors.
“With the opening of 12-15 new resorts this year, we anticipate the industry will soon benefit from 2,700 new beds,” revealed the Tourism Minister.
The Maldives now have 62,345 tourist beds available, comprising 14,461 beds from 860 guesthouses and 42,955 beds from 174 resorts, according to the Tourism Ministry and plans to move to increase Maldives tourism capacity.
Minister Faisal revealed plans to conduct investor conferences in many nations, beginning in July or August, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting investment in tourism infrastructure on less developed islands.
“We aim to hold the first investor forum in July or August,” he stated, adding that preparations are underway for an investor forum in Thailand.
“We are seeing encouraging interest from investors,” Minister Faisal noted, emphasising the government’s efforts to facilitate investments by reducing acquisition costs and offering attractive incentives.
