Maldives Immigration has declared that leaving the Maldives will no longer require outgoing travelers to complete the Imuga Traveller Declaration form as of 15th August 2024. The Controller General of Immigration issued the directive that led to the implementation of this change.
By lowering formalities for travelers departing the nation, the action seeks to improve travel experiences generally. The move is anticipated to facilitate a more effective traveler flow by streamlining the airport departure procedure.
Tourists were still required to complete the online form both before arriving in the Maldives and prior to leaving the country, even though the department has already eliminated the Imuga Traveller Declaration for both inbound and outgoing Maldivians.
The removal of the Imuga Traveller Declaration from international guests’ departures from the Maldives may facilitate a more seamless experience for the hospitality sector, which could have a positive impact on guest satisfaction and operational efficiency in resorts and hotels. To ensure a seamless transition to the new procedure, hotels and resorts are urged to inform both their personnel and visitors of this change. We at Splendid Asia are excited to see how this will positively impact the tourism industry in Maldives, as this is a step in the right direction for tourist quality of life.
