111 members attended the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), which was held at Kurumba Maldives on 9th February 2025.
Chairman Mohamed Umar Maniku and Secretary General Ahmed Nazeer gave opening remarks at the Annual General Meeting. A video highlighting the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry 2024 advocacy efforts was shown throughout the sessions. The 34th AGM Minutes, the 2024 Annual Report, and the Financial Reports submitted by FCLLP (MATI’s auditors) were among the crucial documents that members examined and accepted. The assembly also chose a new Executive Board Member to fill the vacancy, authorized and endorsed the 2025 budget, and reaffirmed FCLLP as the auditing company for the next year.
Salih Shihab & Co (SSCo LLP) gave a presentation on the Industrial Relations Act before welcoming the 20 new MATI members who had joined since the organization’s last AGM. An overview of the performance of the tourism sector in 2024 was given in a second video presentation.
The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Governor, Ahmed Munawar, the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) Commissioner General of Taxation, Hassan Zareer, and the CEO and Managing Director of the Bank of Maldives (BML), Mohamed Shareef, as well as the CEO and Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, Ibrahim Shiuree, attended the event after the formal proceedings. The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), the National Hotels and Guesthouses Association of Maldives (NHGAM), the Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA), and the National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) were among the tourism-related organizations represented, along with senior representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
