Since its inception in the 1970s, tourism in the Maldives has emerged as a major economic force in the nation. In 1972, a pioneer from the Maldives and an Italian tourist agent created the first resort in the Maldives. The Maldives’ pristine natural beauty, which includes its uninhabited islands, was a major draw for travelers. Maldives continues to provide a unique experience to all who visit even 50 years later.
