The Ministry of Tourism has declared its intention to host ITB Berlin 2026. After the Maldives’ participation in the recent ITB Berlin exhibition, which took place from the 5th March 2024 to 7th March 2024, Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal announced at a press conference on 12th March 2024 the nation’s goal to organise the largest tourist exhibition in the world.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and pertinent stakeholders are scheduled to have in-depth talks about organisational and logistical procedures in advance of the probable hosting responsibilities ITB Berlin 2026. Minister Faisal expressed hope that the hosting rights will be secured, but he also emphasised that cooperation within the tourist industry is crucial to achieving this goal.
Every year, ITB Berlin hosts different nations; Oman was the most recent host. Maldives would take on duties as the host country, including directing the opening ceremony and organising other events all through the event. Maldives had previously held the ITB Fair in 2016, winning praise for how well it showcased and portrayed the country’s thriving travel industry.
The Maldives made a strong impression at this year’s (2024) ITB Berlin Fair, where 214 representatives from 107 travel agencies displayed their products. Covering a vast 500 acres, the Maldives stand included a two-story building furnished with 60 B2B meeting tables and 104 co-exhibitor counters.
Since its founding in 1966, the ITB Berlin Fair has been the world’s leading travel trade exhibition, drawing in over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries during its most recent iteration. The fair continues to inspire and grow as the years roll on, hoping to continue its passion for tourism for the foreseeable future.
