The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) for the 2024 – 2025 term was held on 26th January 2025. A new executive board was chosen at the meeting to supervise the association’s operations and projects.
The elected board members are:
- Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, President
- Mohamed Khaleel, Vice President
- Mohamed Shaz (Waleed), Vice President
- Abdulla Suood, Secretary General
- Ibrahim Didi, Treasurer
- Ahmed Arshad, Board Member
- Mohamed Mauroof, Board Member
- Ignaz Mansoor, Board Member
- Ibrahim Nizam, Board Member
- Asad Riza, Board Member
President Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, Vice Presidents Mohamed Khaleel and Shaz, Secretary General Abdulla Suood, Treasurer Ibrahim Didi, Board Member Ignaz Mansoor, and Board Member Ibrahim Nizam were all re-elected to the MATATO Executive Board.
Since its founding in 2006, MATATO has been instrumental in advancing Maldivian travel both domestically and abroad. The newly elected executive board seeks to improve the representation of tour operators and travel agents, further solidify MATATO’s contributions to the tourism sector, and tackle issues in the quickly changing travel environment.
The AGM of the association also served as a forum for discussing ongoing projects, reviewing the accomplishments of the previous term, and outlining strategic goals for the following year.
MATATO is renowned for its dedication to promoting the Maldives as a travel destination worldwide, standing up for the rights of its members, and encouraging cooperation amongst important players in the travel industry.
