Diamonds Thudufushi and MARS have achieved exceptional success in their pilot restoration project in the Maldives, setting new standards in the field of coral reef restoration through their innovative collaboration.
Diamonds Thudufushi started a similar mission after being inspired by MARS’s work worldwide, where they effectively boosted coral cover and marine life considerably with their unique Reef Stars technology. When the resort started this effort in September 2023, it installed 203 Reef Stars and saw a 99% success rate in coral survival. In addition to reducing beach erosion, this project hopes to boost marine biodiversity and provide a healthy home for a wide variety of aquatic creatures.
Building on this victory, Diamonds Thudufushi intends to launch 1003 Reef Stars in October 2024, stepping up its efforts. With this massive development, the Maldives’ natural beauty will be preserved for future generations while also contributing to the enrichment of the marine ecosystem.
