On 3rd March 2025, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) took part in the International Media Marketplace or IMM Germany 2025, which was hosted in Berlin. At this important event for German-speaking markets, MMPRC presented the Maldives’ unmatched services to elite journalists and media professionals.
IMM 2025 is the premier international networking event that links editors, journalists, broadcasters, and influencers with the travel industry. This Travemedia-organized event gave exhibitors the opportunity to network and form alliances with German, Austrian, and Swiss tourism industry professionals. Exhibitors and media representatives were offered numerous networking opportunities in addition to scheduled meetings.
In addition to establishing solid relationships with the media to boost PR, MMPRC collaborated with top media outlets from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to offer the most recent information about the Maldives throughout the one-day event. MMPRC also highlighted the destination’s varied experiences and offerings.
One of the most profitable markets for the Maldives is Germany. With 23,294 arrivals and a 6% market share as of 23rd February 2025, Germany ranks as the fifth-largest source market to the Maldives. To advertise the destination in this market, MMPRC has been hosting a number of events. They successfully promoted the Maldives at the esteemed Berlinale Film Festival and just started an outdoor advertising taxi campaign. Together with TUI, one of the top tour operators in the world, MMPRC also announced the impending start of a campaign aimed at increasing conversions. Participation in ITB Berlin 2025, the largest tourism event in the world, Visit Maldives Week in Munich, Frankfurt, and Zurich, targeted marketing campaigns, media familiarization trips, webinar sessions, joint campaigns with tour operators, and advertising in upscale print media are some of the other events scheduled for this year.
With the goal of increasing bookings and yearly arrivals from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, MMPRC’s involvement in IMM 2025 is in line with their plan to uphold destination presence and sell a variety of tourism segments to travel trade professionals in this market.
