With effect from 1st January 2025, MIC Group (Maldives Inflight Catering) has announced the implementation of its updated grooming policy, reaffirming its dedication to professionalism while embracing changing hospitality trends. By accommodating younger generations and adopting industry best practices, the revised rules guarantee a balance between contemporary aesthetics, regional traditions, and global standards, demonstrating MIC’s commitment to creating an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace.
The amended policy’s main features include allowing male team members to have facial hair as long as it’s clean and well-groomed, including French beards. In order to keep their hair properly combed and out of their faces, male team members may also choose to wear man buns in addition to an undercut. Strict hygiene regulations are still in place, especially for workers in areas where food is produced, who must always wear beard snoods or hairnets.
A dedicated grooming committee has also been established by MIC Group to oversee compliance with the updated requirements. The duties include performing routine audits and reporting on grooming and hygiene compliance throughout the organization.
The importance of these changes was emphasized by MIC Group General Manager Ali Shakir, who said: “The hospitality sector is constantly evolving, and our grooming standards are designed to keep MIC at the forefront of these changes. By balancing respect for local customs with international best practices, we aim to create a professional, inclusive, and modern workplace.”
