Despite a brief shutdown from June to September for a runway expansion project, Maafaru International Airport saw an impressive amount of aircraft movements by the end of 2024, under the watchful eye of Island Aviation Services Limited.
With 98 private jet movements, December 2024 ended on a high note, highlighting the airport’s crucial role as a gateway for affluent tourists visiting the Maldives. The airport’s performance throughout the year demonstrates its durability and capacity to handle high-net-worth individuals who want easy access to Noonu Atoll’s world-renowned luxury resorts.
The runway expansion project, which was completed before the busiest Christmas season, has considerably improved the airport’s service options. Maafaru International Airport’s advantageous position keeps drawing more affluent tourists.
In a statement, Island Aviation Services Limited’s General Manager of Airports, Mr. Mumthaz Ali, discussed the airport’s 2024 performance. “The advancements we made last year demonstrate our dedication to innovation and excellence.
