Chongqing Airlines of China will operate three weekly flights to Malè, which started its operations on 8th January 2025.
With a layover in Colombo, the three services run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The itinerary is Malè-Colombo-Chongqing, with simple connections to other carriers.
The planned three-weekly flights between Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Velana International Airport are anticipated to bring more cultural, investment, and tourism interactions to the Maldives, given that Chongqing is the largest commercial and industrial center in Southwest China.
With 246,125 visitors in 2024, China continues to be the Maldives’ top source market. Additionally, the first and only airline to regularly fly from Malè to Chongqing is the airline in question.
Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class are the three cabin configurations of the contemporary Airbus A320 Neo. Additionally, Chongqing Airlines, a joint venture between China Southern Airlines and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, has a strong basis for growth and a comprehensive service assurance system in Chongqing.
