Ibrahim Faisal, the Maldives’ Minister of Tourism, revealed the government’s avid ambitions to open six to eight additional resorts this year. Minister Faisal emphasized that the Ministry of Tourism is fully dedicated to accelerating the opening of these resorts during an appearance on a PSM News program.
The Minister outlined the difficulties that numerous resort development projects in 63 islands encountered when the present government assumed power. Because of the considerable delays in project completion in 22 of these islands, according to Minister Faisal, the ministry has asked the attorney general for advice on how to move forward with these development projects.
Minister Faisal further disclosed that talks were had with the contractors in charge of these projects. In order to guarantee the projects’ successful completion, he reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to offer help and support to investors, including the potential to include foreign investors. Up to six or eight resorts could formally open within the year, the Minister said with confidence.
The government has issued information showing that there are currently 174 Maldives resorts in operation, providing 42,965 beds for visitors. Splendid Asia and MadlyMaldives eagerly await to see what the future of tourism holds for the island nation.
