In June 2024, Eid al-Adha has Maldives gearing up for a massive 5-day weekend, with some Maldivian resorts following suit as well. Muslims all across the globe commemorate Eid al-Adha, which is observed at the end of the hajj (pilgrimage) rituals in Minā, Saudi Arabia, which is close to Mecca.
Eid al-Adha commemorates the day that Ibrahim, believing it to be a dream from Allah, was asked to sacrifice his son Isma’il in order to please the Almighty. Ibrahim was lured by the devil, who told him to defy Allah and spare his son. Ibrahim was going to murder his son when Allah intervened and gave him a lamb to sacrifice in its place.
As Maldives is a Muslim nation, everyone is getting ready to celebrate Eid al-Adha. Some resorts are also following suit and joining the country in the celebrations.
